In the left-dominated literary culture of the 1930s, I’ll Take My Stand was almost universally regarded as retrograde and racist. Similar treatment was given E. Pound, who had lived in Italy for many years and supported the fascist side in World War II, made more than one hundred pro-fascist broadcasts on Italian radio during the war. ”12 (After the war, the government arrested Pound for treason and brought him back to the US to stand trial.
